Movado Watches

Movado is built around a single idea, and it is one of the most recognisable in watch design: a plain black dial with a gold dot at twelve where the numeral should be.

That is the Museum dial, designed in 1947 and later acquired by the Museum of Modern Art for its permanent collection. Everything unnecessary was removed. The dot marks the sun at noon and nothing else competes with it.

If you want a watch that reads as considered rather than expensive, this is the shortest route to it. Movado suits a suit, a gallery opening and a quiet dinner equally, and it does not date because there is almost nothing on it to go out of fashion.
